Young Hearts 4 Heroes
The Young Hearts 4 Heroes event takes place at Alexandria City Park in Alexandria, Minnesota. Organized by Sacred Journey Academy, this annual gathering aims to bridge the gap in understanding regarding the sacrifices made by soldiers and their families. The event serves to honor local military families and thank veterans for their service through community physical activity.
Participants can choose between two main distances:
- 5K timed running race.
- 1 Mile march and walk.
The 5K course is professionally timed, with medals awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 18+ category and the top three male and female finishers in the 12-18 age group. The 1 Mile walk is designed to represent a "march in a soldier's boots" and is open to all ages. Children under the age of 10 may participate in the walk at no cost without advanced registration.
The event gathers multiple generations to emphasize the importance of freedom and intentional living. Proceeds from the registration fees support the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard and Sacred Journey Academy, two organizations focused on teaching leadership and honoring military veterans.
