Juneteenth Freedom 5K
The Juneteenth Freedom 5K is the fourth annual community event on June 20, 2026 at White Hall State Historic Site in Richmond, Kentucky. The program includes a 5K run/walk, a 1 mile family fun walk, and a virtual runner/walker option, with route maps available for the 5K and the 1 mile walk.

The 5K uses a scenic closed course on paved trails at White Hall Park. The 5K will be manually timed with a gun start and includes a wheelchair division. Participants receive commemorative unisex performance shirts. The event features music, food trucks, snacks and drinks. Awards are presented to the Top 3 men and Top 3 women overall, and first place awards are given by age category for men and women. Age categories include 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 plus.
Registration for the in-person events opens December 22, 2025 and closes May 25, 2026 with a registration fee of $25. Virtual registration opens the same day and closes June 20, 2026 with a $30 fee; the virtual fee includes mailing of the commemorative shirt. Advanced packet pickup is planned at Madison County Public Library, Room 138, 507 West Main St., Richmond, KY 40475 on days to be determined in May. Proceeds and donations are planned to be split between Telford YMCA Achievers Program, Maurice Hibbard Non-Traditional Scholarship, Friends of Maple Grove Cemetery, and New Liberty Family Shelter.
