You Matter Juneteenth Freedom 5K : 19 June 2026 at Fort Hunt Park
The event is a community Juneteenth observance held at Fort Hunt Park in Alexandria, Virginia. It includes an in-person 5K run/walk, a virtual 5K option that may be completed anytime in June, a shorter Freedom Lap of one loop around the park, and a free celebration experience after the race.

Virtual registrants receive shipped race items; shipping confirmation is provided in early June and arrival before June 19 is expected but not guaranteed. The Freedom Lap is a single loop around the park and is presented as a community activity following the 5K and awards presentation. Event programming lists food, music and DJ, post-race festivities, raffles, and giveaways.
Awards recognition is planned for the top three male and top three female finishers. A portion of proceeds supports the You Matter Scholarship Program, with a stated goal of ten $500 scholarships for college-bound seniors from the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. Scholarship criteria require graduation and college acceptance for Fall 2026 and submission of an essay on the meaning of Juneteenth. Winners are notified before the public announcement at the event.
