Yorkshire Wolds Ultra
The Yorkshire Wolds Ultra is a 54 km circular trail running event that starts and finishes on the edge of Pocklington, Yorkshire. The route passes through the villages of Givendale, Bishop Wilton, Kirby Underdale, Thixendale, Huggate and Fridaythorpe and includes about 4,100 ft of climb. The event uses less trodden trails, hidden valleys and grass meadows along the Wolds.
Navigation and tracking are provided. A GPX file is supplied and the route is available via mapping services and a live OpenTracking GPS tracker. Course junctions are marked with yellow tape and large yellow correx signs at key points, though markers may be moved or damaged.
Support and facilities include four indoor checkpoints with toilets and vegan friendly, gluten free nutrition; one checkpoint offers tea and coffee, phone charging and a drop-bag location. There is an additional drink-only water station on the route. First aid cover is provided and mandatory kit requirements are enforced for safety. Changing rooms, toilets and showers are available at registration and finish, with free on-site parking.
The overall event cut-off is 12 hours and there are no checkpoint cut-off times; the cut-off pace equates to roughly 3 miles per hour. Minimum age is 20. Dogs are not permitted and outside pacers or moving support along the route are restricted. Entry includes a tracker and options for an eco-wooden medal, a wildflower seed medal, or no medal with three trees planted in lieu. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
