Yorkshire Wolds Ultra
The Yorkshire Wolds Ultra is a 54 km circular trail event that starts and finishes on the edge of Pocklington. The course covers roughly 4,100 ft of climb and visits the villages of Givendale, Bishop Wilton, Kirby Underdale, Thixendale, Huggate and Fridaythorpe. The route uses quieter footpaths and tracks, including hidden valleys and grass meadows, and includes a variety of ascending sections.
The event provides a GPX route and waymarking at key junctions, plus a live tracker using Open Tracking so competitors and their supporters can follow progress on multiple map types. Four staffed checkpoints with toilets and menstrual products are placed along the route; one checkpoint accepts drop bags and offers tea, coffee and phone charging. A drink only water station is located later on the course. There are no checkpoint cut off times, but an overall finish cut off of 12 hours is enforced.
Included as part of entry are tracker access and options for an eco wooden medal, a handmade wildflower seed medal, or no medal with the organisers planting three trees. At least £3 of each entry fee is donated to local charities and community causes. Minimum age is 20 years and dogs are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
