Ultra Trails - Yorkshire Wolds Ultra
The Yorkshire Wolds Ultra is a trail running event featuring a circular route that begins and ends in Pocklington. The course covers a distance of 54 km and explores various parts of the Yorkshire Wolds, including several hidden valleys and wild grass meadows. Participants travel through the villages of Givendale, Bishop Wilton, Kirby Underdale, Thixendale, Huggate, and Fridaythorpe. The terrain includes less-frequented trails and significant elevation gain throughout the route.
Course Support and Navigation
The event provides comprehensive support for participants, including:
- 54 km circular route
- Four indoor checkpoints equipped with toilet facilities
- Vegan-friendly and gluten-free nutrition at all aid stations
- Hot drinks available at one designated checkpoint
- First aid medical support
- GPS tracking with live timing and splits
- GPX files and physical course marking using yellow tape and signs
Facilities and Finisher Rewards
Event infrastructure includes free on-site parking at Kilnwick Park Ground. Changing rooms, toilets, and showers are available for participants. Runners who complete the course receive a finishers medal, with options including an eco-wooden medal, a wildflower seed medal, or the choice to have three trees planted instead.
Trophies made from reclaimed Wolds waymark posts are awarded to podium finishers in the female and open classes. Additional items, such as technical t-shirts in various fits, are available as optional extras. Post-event refreshments including tea, coffee, and cake are provided at the finish line.
