Run along the Fox River at the YMCA Freaky 5K on Halloween. Choose from a 5K, a kids' half-mile dash, or a virtual option, with a fun costume contest to follow. All finishers receive a medal, and early registrants get a t-shirt.

Event Overview

The YMCA Freaky 5K & Mini Monster Dash takes place in Pierce Park, Appleton. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026.

Participants can choose from four events:

5K Adult (ages 19-99)
5K Youth (ages 5-18)
Mini Monster Dash (a 1/2 mile run for ages 1-12)
Adult / Youth 5K - VIRTUAL

Group and family pricing is available for registrations.

What's Included

Registered participants receive chip timing and refreshments. Those who register by October 13 also receive a Freaky 5K t-shirt. All finishers get a custom finisher's medal.

Schedule and Logistics

Packet pickup is available on two days: Friday, October 24 at the Appleton YMCA from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and on event day, Saturday, October 25 at Pierce Park from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM.

Awards and Activities

Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the winner of each age group. Age groups range from 9 and under to 70+.

Following the 5K, a costume contest is held with awards given in Adult, Group, and Child categories. The course runs along the shores of the Fox River. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
