Run Away to the Bay - 55-Mile Team Relay
Run Away to the Bay is a spring team relay covering 55 miles from Menominee Park on the shores of Lake Winnebago in Oshkosh to the waterfront finish at The City Deck in Downtown Green Bay. The route heads north along the lake through Neenah and Menasha, continues through Darboy and Kaukauna, then joins the Fox River Trail north of Forest Junction and follows the trail through DePere to the finish.
Teams consist of 2 to 8 participants and must meet a minimum age of 16. The average team pace must not exceed 12:00 minutes per mile. Teams are seeded and assigned start waves based on the average pace listed at registration to help manage finish windows.
Each team provides its own support vehicle and supplies a slap band that runners exchange while on course. The event supplies a front bib for each runner, a wristband to pass between team members, a participant shirt, chip timing, finish line food and beverage, and a commemorative finisher medal. A mobile aid station stocked with snacks and drinks is provided to teams rather than fixed water stations.
Safety expectations include yielding to traffic, using sidewalks when available, and keeping headphone volume low. Teams are expected to carry a first aid kit in their vehicle and to arrange their own on-course support and exchanges. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
