Yippee-Ki-Yay Races - Council Bluffs, IA
The Yippee-Ki-Yay Races on October 24, 2026 take place at the Iowa West Foundation Trail Head Park and are run on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail. The event offers three out-and-back distances on a rails-to-trails route with a fine crushed limestone surface.
Distances include:
- 50K (ultra marathon)
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The field is limited to 200 runners total with capacity breakdowns of 50 50K spots, 100 Half Marathon spots, and 50 10K spots. Each race is chip-timed and the overall event has a 9 hour course time limit. Aid stations provide water, Honey Stinger sports drink, Honey Stinger gels, and Ultra Food for 50K runners after 10 miles. A portion of every entry fee is donated to the Wabash Trace Nature Trail.
Participants receive a finisher medal, a long sleeve lightweight race hoodie, and additional race swag. The first 50 registered runners receive a water bottle and a special edition nutrition bundle valued at $25. There are no refunds or transfers. A drop-down option is available for registered 50K runners to switch to the Half Marathon; dropped runners are ineligible for awards but may receive a finisher medal.
Packet pickup is scheduled for October 22 and October 23 with one pickup location at Dick's Sporting Goods, 3816 Metro Dr, Council Bluffs, IA. Registration closes October 5. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
