Yellowstone Trail Race
The Yellowstone Trail Race takes place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in West Yellowstone, Montana. The event uses the Rendezvous Ski Trails as the start and finish location. The race is permitted under a special use authorization from the Custer Gallatin National Forest. The Forest Service recommends participants carry bear spray.
Events and courses
- Marathon - Two loops; elevation gain 1,900 ft.
- 1/2 Marathon - One loop; elevation gain 960 ft.
- 10K - One loop; elevation gain 340 ft.
All courses start and finish at the Rendezvous Ski Trails. Course maps are available in GPX format.
Logistics and services
Race day includes check-in at the Rendezvous Ski Trails and a pre-race meeting. The course will be marked with color-coded flags, cones, and arrows. There is a water station on the Marathon and 1/2 Marathon routes. The event is held on trail and mixed terrain. Race registration includes a race bib, a finishers medal, a custom race sticker, timing with posted results and points-based scoring, aid station support, and products from a sponsor, Hammer Nutrition.
