The Yellowstone Trail Marathon and Trail Races
The Yellowstone Trail Marathon and Trail Races take place in West Yellowstone, Montana, situated on the edge of the first National Park in the world. The event features multiple distances conducted on mixed terrain, rather than standard paved roads. These races are permitted under special use authorization from the Custer Gallatin National Forest.
Participants can choose from a wide range of distances:
- 50K
- 26.2 Miles
- 25K
- 13.1 Miles
- 10K
- 5K
The courses begin at the Rendezvous Ski Trails, located near the town of West Yellowstone at 100 Geyser Street. The route consists of rolling terrain and includes several sections of gravel. Due to the location and local wildlife, the Forest Service recommends that each participant carry bear spray while on the course.
The starting area is located within walking distance of the Stagecoach Inn. Each registered runner receives a custom tri-blend trail race shirt and a seasonal medal provided by the Yellowstone Running Company. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
