Event Information
This event is the third annual Yellowstone Independence Day 5k, a run/walk held on July 4 in Livingston, Montana. The event is a fundraiser organized by the Yellowstone Running Club.
Location and Course
The race starts and finishes at Sacajawea Park, located next to the Yellowstone River. An updated route is planned for this year's event.
Registration and Fees
The main fee for the 5k run/walk is $35. A discounted fee of $15 applies for participants aged 6 to 12, and there is no fee for children aged 0 to 5. Prices increase after June 30, 2026. Online registration closes the evening before the event, but same-day registration is available on-site at the start line from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., accepting cash, PayPal, or check. Signing up by June 20 guarantees a t-shirt.
Event Details
The event features chip timing, raffle prizes, and snacks provided after the race. There is a water aid station approximately halfway through the course. Participants are encouraged to wear patriotic attire and decorate strollers for a chance to win a prize. Dogs are not allowed in Sacajawea Park. Bib pickup is from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on race day at the New Picnic Shelter on the north side of the park.
Purpose
All proceeds support the Yellowstone Running Club's mission to promote running and walking wellness and to help fund the Park County youth cross country team's attendance at regional championship races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
