Event overview
The Yellowstone Independence Day 5k is an annual run/walk fundraiser held on July 4, 2026 in Livingston, Montana. The event is organized by the Yellowstone Running Club and takes place at Sacajawea Park, next to the Yellowstone River. Proceeds support the club's work to promote running and walking in Park County and to help local youth cross country teams attend regional championship races.
Race details and logistics
The event distance is 5 km. The race uses chip timing provided by Muddy Dog Sports. Participants who register by June 20 are guaranteed a t-shirt; early bird pricing runs through June 30 and the regular price increases on July 1, 2026 (children's prices do not increase). Same-day registration is available at the start line with payment by cash, PayPal, or check. Bib pickup is located at the Sacajawea Park New Picnic Shelter on the north side of the park. A water aid station is located roughly halfway along the course, and bottled water and snacks are provided after the race. Raffle prizes are offered, and participants may wear patriotic attire or decorate strollers for a prize opportunity. Dogs are not allowed in Sacajawea Park per city rules. A course map PDF and additional event information are provided by the organizers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
