Event details
The Yellow Jacket Challenge takes place on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Greenville, Michigan (111 North Hillcrest). The event includes a 5k run/walk and a 1 mile walk. Packet pickup will be available on race day. Proceeds benefit the Education Foundation of Greenville to support health and wellness initiatives at Greenville Public Schools, including mental health support.

Course and awards
The 5k course is USATF certified and is endorsed by the Governor's Council for Physical Fitness through the Michigan Fitness Foundation. The course begins near the entrance of Legacy Field at Greenville High School, follows the Fred Meijer Flat River Trail, returns through nearby neighborhoods and the Montcalm Community College campus, and finishes through the tunnel onto Legacy Field across the south 30 yard line of the high school football field.
Trophies are awarded to 5k Overall Male, Overall Female, Masters Male, and Masters Female. Medals are awarded to the top three in each 5k age group (male and female) from 9 and under up to 80+. The 1 mile walk is non-competitive and untimed.
Registration, shirts and rules
Entry fees vary by date: 5k fees increase after April 17 and again on race day; 1 mile walk fees increase on race day. Shirts are guaranteed for entries through April 17 and are available while sizes last after that date. No dogs, bicycles, scooters, or rollerblades are permitted; strollers are welcome and should start at the back. The race is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation and results will be posted live and online. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
