XTERRA World Championship - Ruidoso, New Mexico (Oct 8–11, 2026)
The XTERRA World Championship is a multiday off-road triathlon event held in Ruidoso, New Mexico, organized by XTERRA. Races and event activities take place around Grindstone Lake Park and Wingfield Park beneath the Sierra Blanca range. The event includes Elite, Age Group, and Youth divisions and notes participation of more than 1,000 athletes from over 55 countries. The Elite prize purse is listed at $100,000.
Race distances for the triathlon formats include:
- SWIM 1.5K / BIKE 27K / RUN 10K
- SWIM 750M / BIKE 14K / RUN 6K
- SWIM 400M / BIKE 7K / RUN 3K
Event programming spans multiple days and includes an opening ceremony on October 8 and an awards ceremony on October 10, along with community course sessions, guided hikes, and local shop events. Parking is organized at Wingfield Park and the Grindstone Lake disc golf parking lot, with accessible parking available; a shuttle service is noted as free on Saturday. Historical water temperature data from the same weekend in 2025 measured about 63–64°F (17–18°C).
