XTERRA World Championship : Ruidoso, New Mexico
The XTERRA World Championship is a multiday trail running and off road triathlon event held in Ruidoso, New Mexico from October 8 to October 11, 2026. The primary venues are Grindstone Lake Park for swim and race course access and Wingfield Park for expo and event celebration. The event is organized by XTERRA and is scheduled to include Elite, Age Group, and Youth divisions.
The weekend features a range of race formats and course gradings that span easy to difficult. Event services and community activities include an expo, bike mechanic support, course open days for practice, community ride and run sessions, yoga, welcome and awards ceremonies, and volunteer opportunities. Saturday shuttle service is planned to link Wingfield Park and Grindstone Lake; shuttle service is free for athletes, spectators, and volunteers. Public and accessible parking is provided at Wingfield Park and at the Grindstone Lake disc golf parking lot.
Athlete information notes a requirement for a USA Triathlon license for multisport participants; a one event Bronze membership is available for those without a year long membership. Event details list over 1,000 athletes from more than 55 countries and an Elite prize purse of US$100,000. A 25 yard lap pool at the Ruidoso Athletic Club is available by reservation during race week.
