Event overview
The Capitan Mountain 34-hour Race is a timed endurance event held April 17-18, 2026 in Capitan, New Mexico (coordinates: 33.513758, -105.511612). The race weekend also includes a 12-hour Hotfoot Teddy event and a Rabbit 6-hour event. Organizers use chip timing provided by ZEN ARCADE TIMING. Sub-24-hour finishers receive a special buckle. Times are collected for distances of 25K and longer; the event is run as a no-DNF format for those entries.
Course and race logistics
The course is a soft, runnable 4-mile loop with a central aid station and headquarters at the loop start/finish. The loop will be run clockwise. Pacers are permitted during overnight hours. Food service includes fully stocked aid stations, hot food at night with vegetarian options, and a food truck for registered runners. The event offers camping at Rob Jaggers Campground on a first-come, first-serve basis near the start/finish.
Policies and accessibility
The event includes policies for athletes with disabilities; tethers and prosthetics may be used where appropriate, and some assistive devices require race director approval.
