About the race
The Capitan Mountain 34 Hour is a timed endurance event held April 16–17, 2027 in Capitan, New Mexico, organized by Yeti Trail Runners. The main format is a 34 hour challenge run staged on soft, runnable loops of about four miles with a central aid station and headquarters. The course design is crew optional. Distances and race options include: - 100 miles, buckle awarded - 80 miles, special Smokey 80th birthday buckle - Other distances from 25K up, finisher medals awarded - Separate Hotfoot Teddy 12 hour event - Separate Rabbit 6 hour event Race services include professional chip timing supplied by Zen Arcade Timing with live lap counting, real time tracking, and up-to-date displays.
A food truck is provided as part of registration offering meals and snacks. Pacers are permitted during overnight hours. Camping is available at the start and finish area on a first come, first served basis under BLM rules, with some RV water hookups. The event site notes the location’s historical connection to Smokey Bear and cites the local landscape and legacy as part of the race setting.
