XTERRA Appalachian Trail Fest
The XTERRA Appalachian Trail Fest takes place at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, Alabama. This event is part of the XTERRA Trail Run World Series and features a variety of off-road sport challenges set within the rugged terrain of the park. The festival combines competitive trail running with seasonal activities held around late October.
Participants can choose from several distances and event types:
- Trail Marathon (42.2 km), which serves as a World Championship qualifier.
- Trail Half Marathon (21.1 km), which serves as a World Championship qualifier.
- 10K Trail Run over rugged terrain.
- Halloween Hike described as a family-friendly 5 km activity.
The event site at Oak Mountain State Park is located approximately 20 miles from Birmingham and is accessible via I-65. The park features a sprawling trail system, and a vehicle is recommended for navigating between different areas of the venue. The weekend includes a social gathering in Helena Old Town on the day prior to the races, followed by athlete check-in and an awards ceremony at the Cedar Pavilion Stage on race day.
