About the race
The WSTC Triathlon Series Race 6 is a triathlon held on the Altona Beach foreshore and organised by the Western Suburbs Triathlon Club. The event uses the foreshore path for the run leg and the full length of the Esplanade for the bike leg; the swim is the first discipline in the sequence swim, bike, run. The club rooms share a building with the Altona Surf Life Saving Club near the corner of the Esplanade and Pier Street and are used for registration and transition setup.
Event entry includes both pre-registered and on-the-day options. Registration is processed in the club rooms, accepts cash and card, and requires a completed waiver. Registration generally opens approximately one hour before the event to allow time for setup in transition. Race briefings normally start 15 minutes before the advertised start and cover course details, safety information, and any course changes due to conditions.
Event types and minimum ages are listed as:
- Sprint: athletes 16 and over
- Enticer: athletes 12 and over
- Dash: athletes 10 and over; 10 and 11 year olds swim 200 m
Volunteer participation is required of members for at least one season event; members may nominate a substitute to fulfil their duty. Photographs from the event are typically uploaded to the club gallery within 48 hours, and event results are usually published on the club website the afternoon of the event. Note that local foreshore infrastructure work may require course or start/finish adjustments as the event approaches. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
