WSTC Triathlon Series : Race 6 (Altona Foreshore)
The event is a triathlon comprising a swim, bike and run in that order, held on the Altona Beach foreshore. The bike leg follows the full length of the Esplanade and run courses use the Altona foreshore path. Event distances are offered by age group and ability and include the following categories with minimum ages: Sprint (16 and over), Enticer (12 and over) and Dash (10 and over). For Dash competitors aged 10 and 11 the swim distance is 200 m.
Registration and packet collection occur in the Western Suburbs Triathlon Club rooms located in the same building as the Altona Surf Life Saving Club near the corner of the Esplanade and Pier Street. On-the-day entries are accepted with cash or card and require a completed waiver. Registration typically opens about one hour before the event to allow athletes time to set up in transition.
Race briefings generally start 15 minutes before each event and will cover course details, safety and any changes due to conditions. Course or start/finish alterations may occur because of local foreshore works; such changes will be communicated by the club via Facebook and the club website. Event photographs are generally uploaded within 48 hours and event results are normally published on the club site the afternoon of the race.
Club members are required to volunteer at least once per season; a substitute may perform the duty on their behalf. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
