About the race
Race 4 of the WSTC Triathlon Series takes place on the Altona Beach foreshore with swim, bike and run legs in that order. The run follows the Altona foreshore path and the bike leg uses the full length of the Esplanade. The club base is in the same building as the Altona Surf Life Saving Club near the corner of the Esplanade and Pier Street, with registration handled in the club rooms.
The event offers multiple race formats and distances with minimum age requirements for each:
- Sprint: 750m / 18.75km / 5km
- Enticer: 400m / 12.5km / 3km
- Dash: 300m / 6.25km / 2km (10–11 year olds swim 200m)
- Sprint Aquabike: 750m / 18.75km
- Enticer Aquabike: 400m / 12.5km
- Sprint Aquathon: 750m / 5km
- Enticer Aquathon: 400m / 3km
- WSTC Olympic Distance: 1.5km / 36km / 10km
Entry fees vary by membership category and age group. Registration is completed in the club rooms where pre-registered athletes collect bibs and timing chips; on-the-day entries are accepted with cash or card and a completed waiver. Race briefings are given before each event with course and safety information. Club members are required to volunteer at least once during the season; a substitute may fulfill this obligation. Course layouts may be adjusted due to local infrastructure works and changes will be communicated by the club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
