Worthy 5K
The Worthy 5K is an annual running event held in Bossier City. The race takes place at the Arthur Teague Boat Launch, located at 3131 Arthur Ray Teague Pkwy near the foot of the Shreveport Barksdale Bridge. This event serves as the primary annual fundraiser for Trail Life USA LA-2206, supporting local service projects and troop equipment maintenance.
Participants can choose from two distinct distances:
- 5 km running race
- 0.5 miles Fun Run for children aged 10 and under
The 5 km race is a timed event, while the 0.5 miles Fun Run is untimed and restricted to participants 10 years old and younger. The course follows the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway. According to safety regulations, strollers, wagons, and baby joggers are permitted on the course at a walking pace only. Running with any wheeled vehicles or using in-line skates is not allowed.
The event features an awards ceremony with medals for the first and second place male and female finishers across several age categories, including youth, adult, and masters divisions up to ages 60 and over. Participants are provided with post-race snacks and signature pancakes, which are available both before and after the running events. Race packets can be collected on the day prior to the event at Barksdale Community Church or at the race site on the morning of the competition.
