The Worcester Firefighters 6K is a running and walking event scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2026. It is the 25th annual edition of this race.
Event History
The event was created as a memorial after the Worcester Cold Storage Fire on December 3, 1999. It honors firefighters known as the "Worcester Six." The race also remembers three other Worcester firefighters who died in the line of duty after 1999.
Course and Format
The main event is a 6K run/walk. Other events include a 3K Walk and a Kids 1K (Untimed Fun Run) for children under 12 years old. The course is a loop; 3K walkers complete one loop, while 6K participants run two loops. The Kids 1K is an out-and-back route. All 6K and 3K Walk participants will be chip-timed. The event starts and finishes at Institute Park on Salisbury Street in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Atmosphere and Logistics
The event is described as having a block party atmosphere with a barbecue inside Institute Park. Participants are asked to start at the back if using a stroller. Pets are not allowed.
