Event overview
The Tri-Valley Front Runners 1st Day 5K takes place on January 1, 2026 in Whitinsville, Massachusetts. Early check-in and bib pick-up are offered the day before the race at the Gray Barn. The race field is capped at 300 participants and timing is chip-based. All registrations are final; there are no refunds.
Entry fees are $30 for early registration through November 29 and $35 from November 30 through race day. Runners age 70 and older may register for free; donations are accepted. Registration includes a custom hat for the first 225 registrants, hot chocolate, pizza after the race, and a beer at the Gray Barn with proper identification.
Course and logistics
The course is a USATF certified, fast and flat out-and-back 5K on closed roads along Linwood Ave in Whitinsville. The route begins near Main Street and the Whitin Community Center, passes through Memorial Square, includes a short section through the Northbridge High School parking lot, and turns around near the Linwood Apartments (New China Pacific restaurant) before returning to the finish at Memorial Square. A single aid station at the high school entrance is passed three times.
Division prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups: Under 15, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. Strollers, joggers, and pets are not allowed on the course. The registration area is the Gray Barn, 2 Elm Place, Whitinsville; nearby parking options include the Whitin Community Center and several downtown streets.
