Womp Romp is a trail race held at South Field in Wompatuck State Park in Hingham, MA. The event offers two distances and uses a looped course that mixes single track, wide trails, and some pavement. Each loop includes about 2 miles of paved surface and mud can be expected on sections of the trail.
- 10 Miler: one loop
- 50K: three loops plus one mile
The course is marked with pink flags and arrows. There are three aid stations located at the start and finish area, mile 3.141592, and mile 6. Aid stations supply water, NAAK, candy, chips, pickles, fruit, broth, and items brought by participants. This is a cupless event so participants should carry a hand-held or collapsible cup. Runners are asked to bring a food or beverage donation at packet pick up; suggested categories are savory, sweet, or liquid items with Coke or ginger ale only for liquids.
Packet pick up is scheduled Friday October 23 at the visitor center and on race day at the race site. Tents may be set up on site but campfires are not allowed. Parking is available at the visitor center but that parking location requires several miles of travel to reach the race field. The event uses volunteers and does not pay staff. Race fees cover event costs and any surplus is donated to charity partners including Friends of Wompatuck, Free to Run, and Footprints. Entry fees are $55 for the 10 Miler and $75 for the 50K and registrations are non refundable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
