About the race
Witham Running Club’s Boxing Day 5 is a road race held in Witham on 28 December 2026. The event is a five mile race on an undulating, mainly rural, all-road course that includes a short final section of track of about 50 metres. The route starts on Blunts Hall Road, climbs gently for the first two miles, turns left at the end of Terling Road, then returns towards Witham with a gentle downhill section and crosses under the railway line twice before finishing close to the rugby club.
Roads will not be closed but will be fully marshalled. A time limit of one hour applies; runners remaining on the course after that time are classed as pedestrians and must follow normal highway rules.
Entry prices vary by month: September £20 affiliated / £22 unaffiliated; October £22 / £24; November £24 / £26; December £26 / £28; on the day £30 / £32. Fifty percent of race profits will be donated to charity. A race T-shirt is available for £8; uncollected T-shirts are forfeited by non-attendees.
Facilities include a baggage area in the main hall, refreshments, first aid at the finish area, marshals in phone contact with race HQ, two toilet areas and changing rooms but no showers. Runners must wear their race number visibly on the front and may mark medical details on the reverse. Headphones are not permitted except bone conduction types. Results will be posted after the race.
Parking for runners is provided at ACL Witham and Maltings Academy on Spinks Lane, each a 12 to 13 minute walk to the rugby club. Parking at the rugby club is reserved for officials and volunteers; car parks hold around 200 spaces and will be locked one hour after the race finish.
