About the race
Witches in the Woods is a nighttime run and walk held at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point, IN. The course runs through the fairgrounds woods and along internal roads; participants are asked to bring flashlights or headlamps for visibility. The event offers multiple distances:
- 5K
- 2K
Entry includes a finisher medal for the first 300 registrants and free admission to the Hometown Hocus Pocus Market, a separate market event that features vendors, live music, food, craft drinks, trick or treating, and performances by the Sanderson Sisters. The race awards Top Overall and the top three finishers in each age group, plus prizes for Best Costume. Strollers are welcome and children under three are free.
Packet pickup and on-site registration are available at the event. Race shirts are offered for an additional fee; a limited number of shirts may be available after the event. The organizer does not issue refunds for any reason and registration transfers are not allowed after October 1. The market runs across two days indoors at the Industrial Building on the fairgrounds, with adult admission listed at five dollars and free entry for children 12 and under.
