Wirral Seaside Runs
Wirral Seaside Runs is a series of six 5 km races organised by Pensby Runners. The events take place on the last Wednesday of the month from March to August and form a recurring series on the Merseyside running calendar.
Races start close to Leasowe Lighthouse, Moreton, and follow the sea embankment to a finish at Harrison Drive near the Lifeguard Station. The course is described as flat and fast. Most competitors return to the car park at the start after finishing; otherwise participants need to arrange transport from the finish.
Entry is available for ages 11 and over. The standard entry fee for the 5 km race is £9.50; UKA members receive a £2 discount after membership verification. A guide-entry option exists for guide runners assisting another paying entrant. Race numbers can be collected on the day from 5.45 p.m. at the registration desk at Leasowe Lighthouse. Participants are asked to keep their race number for use in future seaside races.
The series is noted for regular club participation and attendance by newer runners, and it has been held on the local running scene for around 30 years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
