Route and Concept

The Sea 2 Summit races follow the Offa's Dyke National Trail footpath, starting at Prestatyn seafront and heading south into the Clwydian Hills. For the 2026 edition, the Ultra distance is 55.5 km, finishing at Horseshoe Pass after a descent from Cyrn y Brain. The route is marked by the National Trail waymarkers; there are no independent route markings until the final climb to the summit.

Distances

The event offers three race distances:

  • Half Marathon - finishing at Moel y Parc summit.
  • Full Marathon - finishing at Moel Gyw summit.
  • Ultra Marathon (55.5 km) - finishing at Horseshoe Pass summit.

Logistics and Support

Coach travel from the finish areas back to the start is available for advance purchase. GPS tracking will be used. Participants receive a bespoke wooden finisher medal and a route map. Several checkpoints with closure times are located along the course.

Requirements and Kit

All participants must carry a minimum kit list due to the terrain and potential for poor weather. The mandatory kit includes full body waterproof cover, hat and gloves, a spare thermal top, a foil blanket, the provided route map, a whistle, a fully charged mobile phone, and a minimum of 500ml of water at the start.
