Event Overview
The Wiregrass Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving Day at the Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This event marks its 14th year of providing a fitness-oriented start to the holiday while raising funds for local charities. Over the past 12 years, the event has donated more than $415,888.00 to charitable causes. The atmosphere includes music at the start, finish, and along the route, alongside dedicated cheering sections and selfie stations.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 5K - Timed: Open to participants aged five and older.
- 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk: An untimed event for participants aged four and older.
- Kids Dash: A 400 Yard sprint for children aged 12 and under.
The 5K participants receive a chip-timed race bib, while those in the 1-Mile receive an untimed bib. All participants are provided with a finisher's medal and a commemorative shirt, though specific shirt sizes are only guaranteed for registrations completed by November 11th. The Kids Dash is organized by age groups, ranging from 2-year-olds to 12-year-olds.
The event features a costume contest with prizes awarded for first, second, and third place. Younger children who do not meet the age requirements for independent running may remain in strollers with their guardians. Following the races, there is an awards ceremony and a post-race gathering for all attendees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
