Event
The 2026 Winter Wakefield 5k & 10k takes place on January 17, 2026 at Wakefield Park in Annandale, VA. The event offers a virtual race option. Points from the race count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack Series and toward the Winter Series. Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Dri-fit) event shirt, and chip timing.

Registration fees listed are: 5k $30 until Dec 31 (then $35), and 10k $45 until Dec 31 (then $50). Price will increase on race morning by $5 for each distance. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for runners registered before Jan 7.
Course and logistics
The 5k is mostly paved with a short grass section and limited elevation gain. The 10k is an out-and-back with some small hills and about 40% trail. Water stations: one on the 5k at about mile 1.75, two on the 10k at about miles 2 and 4.9; Gatorade may be available at some stations. Restrooms are located inside the Wakefield RECenter.
Packet pickup is available at the event; race day registration is offered and t-shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for race-day registrants. Awards are given to the top 3 men and women overall and to 1st and 2nd place male and female in listed age groups; overall top 3 are not eligible for age-group awards. Live results will be posted on Athlinks and final results with series points will be posted the Monday after the race.
