Event overview
The 2026 Winter Burke Lake race takes place on January 24 at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, VA. It offers three distances:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half marathon
Points from the race count toward the organizer’s Year-Long 5k, 10k, Endurance, and Back of the Pack Series, and toward the Winter Series. A virtual race option is available. The event partners with the EOD Warrior Foundation.
Course and support
All courses use trails in Burke Lake Park, starting and finishing near Shelter A. The route is a trail course that is described as fairly flat and well maintained, with some roots to navigate. The 5k and 10k are a single out-and-back; the half is two out-and-back laps. Water and aid support varies by distance: the half marathon has nine water stations at approximate mile markers 1.1, 3.1, 3.5, 5.1, 6.55, 7.65, 9.65, 10, and 12; the 10k has three stations; the 5k has two. Gatorade is available at some stations. Restrooms are located at the far end of the parking lot from Shelter A. Live race results are posted during the event and final results with series points are posted the following Monday.
Registration, items, and awards
Registration fees vary by distance and increase after December 31; race morning entry increases the listed price by $5. Registered runners receive a finisher’s coin, a technical event shirt, and chip timing. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations before January 14. Awards include top 3 men and women overall and age-group awards by category; top 3 overall are not eligible for age-group prizes. Back of the Pack categories are listed for series points.
