Winona Forest Backyard Ultra : Mannsville, NY
Winona Forest Backyard Ultra is a backyard ultra held at the CCC Camp in Winona State Forest near Mannsville, NY. The course is a loop of 4.167 mile laps that repeat on an hourly cycle. A new loop begins each hour and runners must complete the loop and be in the starting corral before the next hour to continue. The event continues until only one runner completes a final lap and is the last runner standing.
Race headquarters includes the start/finish area, a common fully stocked aid station, portajohns, parking, picnic tables, and space for personal pop-up tents and chairs. Participants may set up an individual area near the start/finish; crew are allowed but pacers are not. Power outlets are not available. Volunteers and crew provide aid at the start/finish; no aid from crew is allowed while a runner is on the course. Competitors must remain on the course except for restroom use. Artificial aids, including trekking poles, are not permitted.
Milestones recognized in results and with stickers include:
- 1 lap - The Lapper
- 4 laps - Beyond a Half Marathon
- 7 laps - Beyond a Marathon
- 8 laps - Beyond the 50K
- 12 laps - The Fifty (50 miles)
- 24 laps - 24 hours, 100 miles
Included items listed for registrants include a race T-shirt if registered by August 7, a custom bib, a commemorative tumbler after the last lap, milestone stickers and a DNF magnet, food for runners and crew, and 24 hour emergency support.
