Winnie's Way 5k Rescue Run
Winnie's Way 5k Rescue Run takes place on August 29, 2026 at the Arthur Ray Teague Boat Launch and bike path in Bossier City, Louisiana. The event includes a 5k road race that follows an out and back course on the Arthur Ray Teague bike path. All proceeds support Winnie's Wish to help rescue dogs with special needs obtain proper care and homes.
Event options include the main 5k, a half mile kids fun run for children age 10 and under, and a sleep-in supporter category that provides a race shirt without participating in the run. Registration fees vary by date; early, late, and race day fees are specified by the organizer. Shirt sizes are guaranteed only for participants who register by the stated deadline.
Awards include a $200 cash prize and a trophy for overall male and female finishers, plus trophies for first place male and female in each age group. Age groups are 12 and under, 13–17, 18–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, and 60 plus. Packet pickup is available at Sportspectrum on the two days before the event and at the race site on event day. Several area animal rescue organizations plan to be present after the event with adoptable pets and information.
Special rules note that leashed dogs are welcome, strollers and other hand pushed vehicles are allowed only at walking pace, and in line skates, roller skates, and runners pushing baby strollers are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
