Winnie's Way 5k Rescue Run

The Winnie's Way 5k Rescue Run returns for its sixth annual edition in Bossier City, Louisiana. This event aims to raise funds for rescue dogs with special needs to ensure they receive proper care and find permanent homes. The event features multiple ways to participate:

  • 5k
  • 1/2 Mile Fun Run
  • Lazy Dawg Sleep-in supporter

The 5k race follows an out and back course on the Arthur Ray Teague Bike Path, starting and finishing at the Arthur Ray Teague Boat Launch. Participants in the 1/2 Mile Fun Run must be aged 10 or under, with trophies awarded to the top boy and girl finishers. For those who wish to support the cause without running, the Sleep-in Supporter option provides a race shirt without participation in the physical events.

Leashed dogs are welcome to attend the event. Strollers, wagons, and baby joggers are permitted on the course but must remain at a walking pace. In accordance with RRCA regulations, in-line skates, roller skates, and runners with baby strollers are not permitted on the run course. After the races, a post-party includes refreshments, awards, and the presence of various animal rescue organizations with adoptable pets. Cash prizes and trophies are awarded to overall male and female finishers in the 5k, with additional trophies for age group winners ranging from 12 and under to 60 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
