Wings of Hope 5K - Fundraiser for the Cancer CARE Fund
Wings of Hope is a charity 5K walk and run held in Pinehurst on November 14, 2026, that benefits the FirstHealth Cancer CARE Fund. The event includes a timed 5K course through the Pinehurst community, featuring gravel and paved surfaces and modest inclines among longleaf pines. Strollers are welcome and only service animals are allowed on the course.
The event offers a Celebration Village with a Survivor Spotlight Station, lung screening education, community partners and vendors, kids activities, food trucks, and music. A FirstHealth Lung Bus will be on site; eligible participants may receive a low-dose CT lung screening at no cost, with screening eligibility requirements applying. A costume contest with prizes and winner categories for age groups and best dressed are part of the event. Proceeds from the race go directly to the FirstHealth Cancer CARE Fund; since its establishment in 2000 the fund has dispersed over three million dollars to cover cancer patient needs. Entry fees are listed as $25 for adults and $10 for children 13 and under, with a discounted $15 rate for FirstHealth employees who show current ID at registration.
