Wings for Life World Run La Verne
The Wings for Life World Run is a global event where participants across the world run simultaneously. The La Verne event takes place on a high school rubber track at Bonita High School. This App Run event allows participants to run together in a local setting while using a mobile application to track their progress.
The race uses a unique format without a traditional stationary finish line. Instead, participants are pursued by a Virtual Catcher Car. This digital vehicle starts its pursuit 30 minutes after the beginning of the race. It begins at a speed of 14 km/h and gradually increases its pace until it passes every participant. Once a runner is "caught" by the virtual car, their individual race concludes.
This event is open to both runners and wheelchair participants. Local amenities include a refreshment station and a designated setup for participants. The event is organized in collaboration with local partners, including the University of La Verne and the Be Perfect Foundation. Financial contributions from entry fees and donations are directed toward spinal cord research projects.
The course is held at a specific geographic location: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
