Wings for Life World Run Gold Coast
Wings for Life World Run Gold Coast is an evening app-based event in Burleigh Heads, Queensland, Australia. The local meeting point is Burleigh North Surf Life Saving Club and the course uses a 3.6 km loop along the esplanade, from Burleigh North SLSC to Burleigh Heads SLSC and back. The event is accessible for wheelchair participants.
The race has no fixed finish line. Competitors run or push alongside a Virtual Catcher Car that starts moving 30 minutes after the race start at 14 km/h and then steadily increases its speed until the last participants are caught. Participants use the Wings for Life World Run mobile app to take part.
All funds raised through donations and entry fees are directed to spinal cord research projects.
