Wings for Life World Run Edinburgh

The Wings for Life World Run Edinburgh is a unique global running event where participants compete alongside each other using a mobile application. This local App Run takes place at the Meadowbank Sports Centre Athletics Track, located in Edinburgh. The venue features a professional 400m circuit, making it suitable for those aiming for specific distances such as 5 km, 10 km, or longer.

This event follows a non-traditional race format without a stationary finish line. Instead of running toward a specific point, participants attempt to stay ahead of a Virtual Catcher Car. The race begins for all participants simultaneously. Thirty minutes after the start, the Virtual Catcher Car begins its pursuit at a speed of 14 km/h. This virtual vehicle steadily increases its pace at set intervals until the final athlete is overtaken. The moment the app indicates the car has caught a runner, their individual race concludes.

The event is accessible for wheelchair participants and includes a local setup with a refreshment station. Participants receive a race number and tracked timing through the mobile application. The organization directs 100% of all entry fees and donations toward spinal cord research projects. Local support for this event is provided by the BLANK Training Club and the Good Time Running Club.
