The Edinburgh Christmas Running Festival
The Edinburgh Christmas Running Festival takes place in Inverleith Park on Sunday 6th December 2026. The event uses a looped route around the park, featuring wide open spaces, leafy paths, and views of Edinburgh’s skyline.

- 10K
- 5K
- Junior 1500m fun run
There are age restrictions for the longer races: entrants must be at least 13 years old for the 10K and at least 11 years old for the 5K. Number and chip pick up is organised from a desk or gazebo near the Royal Botanic Garden end of the park at Arboretum Place EH3 5NZ. A secure baggage drop will be available at the pavilion.
Festive fancy dress is encouraged and participants are asked to wear appropriate running clothing to minimise the risk of injury. The event is described as a seasonal community run that has been held for over two decades, marking its 22nd year.
Transport options include local bus access with Learmonth Grove approximately a 4 minute walk from the park and Haymarket station about a 30 minute walk.
