Edinburgh Christmas Running Festival
The Edinburgh Christmas Running Festival takes place in Inverleith Park, Edinburgh, on Sunday 6 December 2026. The event runs entirely around Inverleith Park, using wide open spaces and leafy paths with views of the city skyline. Start and finish are at Arboretum Place, EH3 5NZ.
Distances available:
- 10K : two laps of the Inverleith Park route, entry age 13 and over
- 5K : one lap of the Inverleith Park route, entry age 11 and over
- Junior 1500m : fun run for under 16s
Chip timing is used for every race. All finishers receive a unique medal depicting Edinburgh Castle under snow on a tartan ribbon. Special awards are given to the first, second and third place men and women in each category.
Practical arrangements on the day include number and chip pick up at the check-in gazebo near the Royal Botanic Garden end of the park, a secure bag drop at the pavilion, first aid provision, and refreshments and water. Race route maps are provided and the course will be signposted. Race results are published online shortly after each race. Festive fancy dress is strongly encouraged while still wearing appropriate running clothing to reduce injury risk. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
