Wings for Life World Run Birmingham

The Wings for Life World Run is a global event designed for runners and wheelchair participants. The competition in Birmingham is an App Run Event that takes place at the Alexander Stadium. The specific course consists of a 400-meter athletics track with a smooth, oval surface featuring clear lanes and gentle curves.

The event features a unique format without a conventional stationary finish line. Instead, participants use a mobile application to track their progress while being pursued by a Virtual Catcher Car. This virtual vehicle begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start of the race at an initial speed of 14 km/h. It gradually increases its speed over time until every participant has been overtaken.

All registration fees and donations from the event are allocated directly to spinal cord research projects. The stadium venue is fully accessible for wheelchair users. To participate in this local organized run, athletes must use the official mobile app which provides the virtual timing and tracking for the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
