Wings for Life World Run Bastrop
The Wings for Life World Run in Bastrop is a global charity event where participants run to support spinal cord research. This event takes place in Bastrop State Park in the United States and is held in conjunction with the Wildflower Trail Race. The event follows a unique format where there is no traditional finish line. Instead, participants use a mobile application to track their progress while being pursued by a Virtual Catcher Car.
The race is open to both runners and wheelchair participants. The Virtual Catcher Car starts its pursuit 30 minutes after the initial race start. It begins at a speed of 14 km/h and gradually increases its pace until it passes every participant. Once a participant is overtaken by the Virtual Catcher Car, their individual race concludes.
The course utilizes the trails of Bastrop State Park. Local organizers provide a refreshment station and a local setup for attendees. Participants must download the event's mobile application to handle timing and track the Virtual Catcher Car. All entry fees and donations from the event are dedicated directly to spinal cord research projects. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
