Event Overview

The Wings for Life World Run is a global event designed for both runners and wheelchair participants. The event in Santa Monica is an App Run, where participants utilize a mobile application to track their progress and participate in a unique race format that lacks a traditional static finish line. All entry fees and donations collected from the event are directed toward spinal cord research projects.

Course Information

The race follows a loop that starts and ends at the Red Bull North America Headquarters located at 1740 Stewart Street. Participants head toward the Santa Monica Pier via a bike path before looping back toward the headquarters building.

Race Format

The competition features a Virtual Catcher Car that serves as a moving finish line. The race concludes for an individual athlete once the virtual car catches them on the app. The virtual car starts moving 30 minutes after the initial race start at a speed of 14 km/h. It gradually increases its pace until it has passed all participants.
