Wings for Life World Run - Perth
The Wings for Life World Run is a global event where participants compete simultaneously using a mobile application. This specific App Run Event takes place at Optus Stadium Park in Perth, Australia. The event is open to both runners and wheelchair participants, who move along a course until they are overtaken by a Virtual Catcher Car.
The race format does not include a traditional static finish line. Instead, a Virtual Catcher Car begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start. It maintains an initial speed of 14 km/h and gradually increases its pace until every participant has been caught by the digital vehicle. Participants can track their progress through the mobile application, which also manages timing and race numbers.
The course is located within the Burswood Park precinct, following the Swan River. The track is described as flat and scenic, passing through local parklands and riverside paths with views of the Perth city skyline. A refreshment station and local setup are provided for participants on-site.
This event serves as a fundraiser for spinal cord research. The organization directs 100% of all entry fees and donations toward research projects focused on finding a cure for spinal cord injuries. To participate, individuals must download the mobile application and complete the registration process. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
