Wings for Life World Run - Newport Beach

The Wings for Life World Run is a global event organized to support spinal cord research, with 100% of entry fees and donations directed toward research projects. This specific App Run event takes place in Newport Beach, United States, and is open to both runners and wheelchair participants.

The race follows a unique format without a fixed finish line. Instead, participants use a mobile application that features a Virtual Catcher Car. This digital vehicle begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start at a speed of 14 km/h, steadily increasing its pace until all athletes have been overtaken. An individual's race concludes once the app indicates they have been caught by the car.

The course is set as a roughly 4-mile out-and-back route starting at Mutt Lynch's. Participants head south along the Newport Beach Boardwalk on the Balboa Peninsula, passing the Newport Pier. The turnaround point is located near the Balboa Pier at approximately the 2-mile mark, from where runners return along the boardwalk to the starting point.

The event includes a local refreshment station providing beverages and snacks. To participate, individuals must download the mobile app, which handles timing and tracking for the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
