Wings for Life World Run Melbourne
The Wings for Life World Run in Melbourne is an App Run event taking place at the La Trobe Sports Stadium. This global competition features a unique format where there is no fixed finish line. Instead, participants run or roll as far as they can before being overtaken by a Virtual Catcher Car via a mobile application. Both runners and wheelchair participants are permitted to take part in the event.
The course is located on the grounds of the stadium and consists of closed campus roads and parkland paths. These surfaces are smooth and offer ample space for participants. The event includes a refreshment station and a local setup for athletes. To participate, individuals must use the mobile application, which tracks progress and provides a race number and timing services.
The Virtual Catcher Car starts 30 minutes after the initial race commencement. It begins at a speed of 14 km/h and gradually increases its pace until all participants have been reached. Every entry fee and donation collected from the event is designated for spinal cord research projects. Possible distances reached by participants include: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
