Wings for Life World Run Brighton
The Wings for Life World Run in Brighton is a global charity event where participants run to support spinal cord research. This event is an App Run, meaning participants use a mobile application to track their progress while running together at a physical location. All proceeds from entry fees and donations are contributed directly to research projects.
The race follows a unique format without a fixed finish line. Instead, participants compete against a Virtual Catcher Car. The virtual vehicle begins moving 30 minutes after the race starts at a speed of 14 km/h. It gradually increases its pace until every runner and wheelchair participant has been overtaken. Once the Virtual Catcher Car catches an individual in the app, their race is complete.
The course is located in Preston Park, with the starting point at the main entrance by Preston Road. Participants follow an anticlockwise route through the park. The loop takes runners past the tennis courts and circles around the open lawn before returning toward the start area.
The event is accessible for wheelchair participants. The following distances are used as milestones for the format: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
