Winter Downs 100, 11 Dec 2026
The Winter Downs 100 is a 100 mile winter trail run across the South Downs and North Downs, starting at Amberley Museum and finishing at Juniper Hall on the north side of Box Hill. The point-to-point route follows established long-distance trails in sequence: 42 miles on the South Downs Way, then roughly 32 miles on the Wayfarers Walk and St. Swithuns Way to Farnham, and the final 26 miles on the North Downs Way. The total distance is 100 miles (160 km) with about 10,000 ft (3,050 m) of elevation.
Runners have a maximum of 35 hours to complete the course. There are three aid stations on course that provide hot meals and access to drop bags; crew are not permitted inside aid stations. Runners may remain at each checkpoint for up to two hours but must meet checkpoint cut offs and the overall 35 hour limit. The event is limited to an anticipated starting field of 100 runners and entries are subject to qualification checks and organiser acceptance; there is no waiting list.
The course is not traditionally marked; participants must carry and use the provided GPX files and be familiar with the way-marked trails. Pacers are not permitted. A full kit check is enforced at registration with spot checks on course; missing mandatory kit incurs a one hour time penalty. Medical cover and race medics are provided throughout the event. Finishers receive a buckle and prize categories include overall and vet class awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
