Wings for Life App Run Albuquerque
The Wings for Life World Run is a global event where participants compete simultaneously across different locations. This specific event takes place in Albuquerque, United States, and utilizes a digital application to coordinate the race. The competition is open to both runners and wheelchair participants, with the unique format featuring no fixed finish line.
The race follows the Virtual Catcher Car format. Participants begin running at a set time, and the Virtual Catcher Car starts its pursuit 30 minutes later. The car begins at a speed of 14 km/h and gradually increases its pace. An individual’s race concludes once they have been overtaken by this virtual vehicle.
The course is located along the Bosque Trails, with the start line and parking situated at Tingley Beach. The track features markers at the 1 mile and 2 mile points. Participants have the option to run in a loop until they are caught by the Virtual Catcher Car or choose to stop their run.
Financial contributions from the event are managed as follows:
- 100% of entry fees are directed toward spinal cord research projects.
- 100% of donations are used for spinal cord research.
The event includes local infrastructure such as a refreshment station. Timing and race numbers are managed through the mobile application, which participants must download to record their progress and receive pursuit updates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
