Albuquerque App Run Event
The Wings for Life World Run is a global sporting event open to both runners and wheelchair participants. This specific App Run event takes place in Albuquerque at Tingley Beach. The race features a unique format without a fixed finish line. Instead, participants use a mobile application to compete against a Virtual Catcher Car.
The course follows the Bosque Trails, where the route includes markers at 1 mile and 2 miles. The start line is located near the parking area at Tingley Beach. Participants may run the route in a loop until they are overtaken by the Virtual Catcher Car or decide to stop.
The Virtual Catcher Car begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the official start. It starts at a speed of 14 km/h and gradually increases its pace until every athlete has been caught. All entry fees and donations from the event are directed toward spinal cord research projects.
Local partners for this event include Run Club ABQ, Brickz Fitness, and Dukes Track Club.
