About the Event

The Wine and Chocolate Run is a 5K event that starts and finishes in the San Marco Square area of Jacksonville. The course goes through the historic San Marco neighborhood.

The event raises funds for the continued beautification of San Marco Square. It is part of the Jacksonville Grand Prix race series, where top-ten age group finishers earn points toward series prizes.

Event Details

The start is on San Marco Boulevard at the east end of the square. All participants begin together in one mass wave. The race is timed using the Race Results Timing system, and official results are posted online shortly after the finish.

A post-race celebration features wine and chocolate. Participants of legal age receive two pours of wine (red, white, or bubbly) with their race bib. Chocolate treats from Peterbrooke are also available. All wine consumption is restricted to within San Marco Square.

Registration and Fees

Registration is available online or in person at 1st Place Sports store locations. Entry fees are tiered and increase as the event date approaches. Fees include a moisture-wicking running shirt, a wine tumbler, and two wine pours for those of legal age. There are no refunds.

Awards

Prize money is awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers ($200, $150, $100). An additional $100 is awarded to the first male and female master finishers (over 40). Custom plaques are awarded to the top three finishers in various age groups. The awards ceremony begins at 6:00 PM.

Logistics

Packet pickup is available on the Thursday and Friday before the race at selected 1st Place Sports locations, and on race day at the start line beginning at 3:30 PM. Parking in the area is described as limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
