Windermere Triathlons & Duathlons 2026
A two-day triathlon and duathlon event takes place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July 2026 at Cockshott Point, Glebe Road, Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria. The event uses open water in Lake Windermere for the swim and includes bike and run routes that follow local roads and lakeshore paths.
Saturday features Novice and Sprint distances. Sunday features Standard distances. Bike routes include sections through Ambleside; Standard bike routes complete a full circuit of the lake. Run courses use lakeside paths with multi-lap circuits on some distances.
Event distances include:
- Novice Triathlon: 350m swim, 20 km cycle, 2.5 km run
- Sprint Triathlon: 750m swim, 20 km cycle, 5 km run
- Sprint Duathlon: 5 km run, 20 km cycle, 2.5 km run
- Sprint Aquabike: 750m swim, 20 km cycle
- Sprint Aquathlon: 750m swim, 5 km run
- Standard Triathlon: 1500m swim, 48 km cycle, 10 km run
- Standard Duathlon: 10 km run, 48 km cycle, 5 km run
- Standard Aquabike: 1500m swim, 48 km cycle
- Standard Aquathlon: 1500m swim, 10 km run
A secure Transition Area is provided for triathletes; bike numbers and race numbers correspond to racking locations and are checked before bike removal. Wetsuits are expected to be optional depending on water temperature; they are recommended for added comfort and buoyancy. Live chip timing is used for results. The event is a permitted British Triathlon event and non members must obtain a single use Race Pass or hold appropriate membership. Public parking is available near Cockshott Point and Glebe Road, payable by app or at machines. Finishers receive a metal event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a drink and snack.
