Event overview
The Windermere Triathlons and Duathlons take place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July 2026 at Cockshott Point, Glebe Road, Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria (postcode LA23 3GZ). Saturday features Sprint and Novice distances; Sunday features Standard distances. Swim sections take place in Lake Windermere. Novice and Sprint bike routes loop back via Ambleside; Standard riders circle the lake. Run courses use shoreline paths and trails. Wetsuits are expected to be optional; they are recommended for comfort and buoyancy for less experienced swimmers.
Race distances and logistics
- Novice Triathlon: 350 m swim, 20 km cycle, 2.5 km run
- Sprint Triathlon & Relays: 750 m swim, 20 km cycle, 5 km run
- Sprint Duathlon: 5 km run, 20 km cycle, 2.5 km run
- Sprint Aquabike: 750 m swim, 20 km cycle
- Standard Triathlon & Relays: 1,500 m swim, 40 km cycle, 10 km run
- Standard Duathlon: 10 km run, 40 km cycle, 5 km run
- Standard Aquabike: 1,500 m swim, 40 km cycle
A secure Transition Area is reserved for competitors; race and bike numbers correspond to racking positions, competitors may bring a small bag or box, and bike numbers must be attached with helmets visible before entry. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North. All finishers receive an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise (buff or water bottle) and a drink and snack. A custom event t-shirt is available as an optional extra for £12. Public parking is available around Cockshott Point and Glebe Road. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
