WIM SWOL Bere Wood : Sunday 2 November

Wimborne Orienteers are holding a SWOL orienteering event at Bere Wood. The event will be used for the WIM Founder's Trophy 2025. Entries close 31st October. Parking is along a single-track road with a one-way track; vehicles will follow signs and exit onto the A35. Dogs are not permitted.

Courses and practical information

Courses (subject to final controlling):

  • Brown - 8.8 km, 170 m climb; M20, Men's Open, Women's Open
  • Blue - 6.6 km, 120 m climb; M16, M18, M45+, W20, W35+
  • Green - 4.6 km, 80 m climb; M65+, W16, W50+
  • Short Green - 3.3 km, 60 m climb; M75+, W70+
  • Light Green - 4.5 km, 125 m climb; M14, W14
  • Orange - 3.5 km, 80 m climb; M12, W12
  • Yellow - 2.5 km, 50 m climb; M10, W10
  • White - 1.7 km, 35 m climb; Novice

Dress requires full arm and leg cover; shorts and vests are not allowed. Whistles are compulsory. Terrain is a mixture of runnable woods with marshy areas. Maps: scale 1:10,000, 5 m contours; all courses printed on A4 waterproof paper with control descriptions on the map and loose in the start lanes. SIAC-enabled SportIdent electronic punching will be used; hire dibbers are not SIAC. Facilities include portaloos and a catering wagon. Entry fees vary by date and category, with standard senior and junior rates and a non-member supplement. Juniors are under 21 on 31 December.
