Phoenix Running - Wiltshire: Very Merry Pudding Run
This is a Christmas themed timed event at Coate Water Country Park in Swindon. Participants run repeated laps of 3.28 miles (5.25 km) and may complete as many laps as they wish before the event finish cutoff, with a designated start window available.
Distances on the course include:
- 1 Lap for a quick 5k plus trail run
- 4 Laps equal a half marathon distance
- 8 Laps equal a full marathon distance
- 9 or more Laps reach ultra marathon territory
All finishers who complete at least one lap receive a wooden medal. The medals are individually cut, engraved and painted from solid oak, measure 10 cm wide and 1 cm thick, contain real money in the pudding feature, and can double as a Christmas tree decoration.
The route uses a mixture of well maintained gravel and tarmac paths, lakeside tracks and woodland trails. It is generally flat with a few undulations and is described as suitable for road shoes. The lap includes the Curly Wurly spiral concrete footbridge crossing the M4 and continues onto a woodland railway path.
A Phoenix aid station is provided at the start and finish of every lap with food options and provisions for special dietary requirements including vegan and gluten free choices. Places are strictly limited to control numbers on the paths and bridge. Entry fees are listed for affiliated and unaffiliated entrants.
