Santa's Scamper
Santa's Scamper is an annual charity fun run held at Calne Community Campus, White Horse Way, Calne, Wiltshire SN11 0SP. The route starts and finishes at the campus and is approximately 4 km long, passing through the town centre with sections where spectators line the streets.
The event provides a Santa suit and a finisher's medal as part of the entry fee for most categories. Entry categories and standard prices listed for the event are: adults 15 and over £14.00; youth 9 to 14 years £12.00 (must be accompanied by an adult); children 5 to 8 years £12.00 (must be accompanied by an adult); children under 5 are free but do not receive a suit or medal and must be accompanied by an adult. Suit size is determined by the entry category selected.
Previous editions have supported charities such as Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Dorothy House, Hope for Tomorrow, Barnardo's and Hannah's Trees and have raised over £15,000 to date. After the run, there is an organised after-party area where participants can meet charity representatives and find festive refreshments and entertainment including hot drinks, seasonal treats and a guest choir. Pushchairs are permitted on the course with care; scooters and skating equipment are not allowed. The event is described and promoted as a fun run and not a race.
