Event Overview
Santa's Scamper is an annual festive charity event held in Calne, Wiltshire. This non-competitive fun run covers a route of approximately 4 km that starts and finishes at the Calne Community Campus. The course takes participants through the town centre, passing through the green, the churchyard, and local shops where crowds gather to provide support.
The event is designed for families and community participation. Pushchairs are permitted on the course, provided they are used with care on the road-based route. However, scooters and other skating equipment are not allowed for safety reasons.
Participation and Inclusions
The event offers several entry categories based on age:
- 4 km Adult (15+)
- 4 km Youth (9-14 years)
- 4 km Child (5-8 years)
- 4 km Child (Under 5)
Participants in the Adult, Youth, and Child (5-8) categories receive a Santa suit and a finisher's medal as part of their entry fee. The size of the suit is determined by the selected entry category. Children under 5 may participate for free but do not receive a suit or a medal. All participants under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Post-Run Activities
After finishing the course, participants can attend an after-party featuring a guest choir. The gathering includes hot drinks, festive treats such as mince pies, and opportunities to meet with representatives from local charities. The event has a history of fundraising for organizations such as Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Dorothy House, having raised over £15,000 to date.
Registration takes place on the morning of the event at the Calne Community Campus. Prospective participants must register in advance as there are no entries available on the day of the run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
