Wilmington Whiteface Whiskey Run
The Wilmington Whiteface Whiskey Run is a community running event held at Preston Festival Field in Wilmington, NY (2 Cunningham Lane, 12997). The event offers in-person and virtual race options with the following choices:
- Whiskey Run 5K - in-person 5-kilometer race.
- Whiskey Run 10K - in-person 10-kilometer race.
- Whiskey Run Virtual 5K - remote 5-kilometer option.
- Whiskey Run Virtual 10K - remote 10-kilometer option.
Run participants receive a t-shirt and a swag bag filled with local goods. Finishers receive a medal. T-shirt sizes are available for ladies (small, medium, large, X-large; shirts run small and feature a V-neck with shorter sleeves) and men (small, medium, large, X-large).
Packet pick-up and race-day registration occur at the registration booth at Festival Field. Parking is available at the Town Offices parking lot across from Festival Field, at the village garage lot across the street, and on-street on the west side of Springfield Road (not in running lanes).
Course details note water stations and porta-potties at specified locations. The 10K route includes aid stations near 3K, 5K and 8K and several road turns through NYS Route 86, Fox Farm Road and Indian Rock Road. The 5K follows Springfield Road and the bike/walking lane with an out-and-back segment.
Awards include top three overall male and female finishers for both distances, top three finishers by age category, and awards for virtual top finishers. Proceeds benefit the Wilmington Historical Society. Festival activities at Preston Festival Field include whiskey tastings, food vendors, historical re-enactors, a military remembrance ceremony, music, raffles, history displays, and craft vendors.
