Wildlife Loop Triathlon
The event is a multisport triathlon held at Stockade Lake in Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It includes an open-water swim at Stockade Lake, a road bike course that leaves and returns to the transition area, and a multi-lap run that uses local roads and a bike path.

Swim details: the Olympic and 70.3 distances start with a mass start in knee deep water at Stockade Lake. The 70.3 swim is two counterclockwise laps; the Olympic swim is one counterclockwise lap. The water temperature is listed around 69 degrees.
Bike details: the 70.3 bike has a reported elevation gain of 5118 feet and uses US-16, Iron Mountain Road, South Playhouse Road, Highway 87 and local park roads with a defined turnaround for the long course. The Olympic and sprint bike courses use shorter lap patterns; the sprint bike totals 10.05 miles with laps around Stockade Lake.
Run details: the run leaves transition on a gravel road, follows Stockade Lake Drive to a first aid station at Highway 16A, uses a bike path toward Custer with a turnaround about 1.5 miles out, and returns to transition. The sprint run is a three loop out-and-back for a 5k and is described as spectator friendly.
Logistics and rules: packet pickup requires an ID card and USAT card and cannot be done by another person. Competitors must purchase a Custer State Park pass. Relay teams consist of two to three people. There is no day of race registration. Aid stations provide bananas, cookies, potato chips, Hammer Nutrition gels, Powerade, Endurolyte capsules and salt tablets or sticks. Refunds may be issued not to exceed 25 percent of the registration fee if requested before August 24, with notification required by phone and email.
